Things to Do

The Hamel Rodeo is a five-day summer celebration of Western sports and small-town tradition, hosted in the Medina neighborhood of Hamel. What began in 1981 as a local fundraiser has grown into Minnesota’s largest professional rodeo, drawing thousands of spectators each year. Events include bull riding, saddle bronc, steer wrestling, and barrel racing. Free pony rides for kids and the Hamel Lions Rodeo Parade, a crowd-favorite, add to the family-friendly atmosphere.

Held every Sunday from May through September, the Hamel Lions Flea Market takes over the Medina Entertainment Center parking lot. It’s a beloved seasonal event where vendors offer antiques, produce, handmade goods, vintage items, and collectibles — a perfect outing for casual treasure hunting or local people-watching.

Each fall, Medina Celebration Day brings the community together with a day full of live music, food trucks, children’s games, a business expo, and fireworks. Hosted in Hamel, this celebration captures the neighborly spirit and small-town pride that defines Medina.

Live entertainment is also a regular feature at the Medina Entertainment Center, where the Medina Ballroom hosts a robust calendar of concerts, tribute bands, comedy nights, and special events. From legendary rock acts to up-and-coming country stars, the ballroom is a regional destination for live music. Outdoor concerts on the patio at Robert’s Craft Kitchen & Bar extend the music scene into the warmer months.
